Chiranjeevi leaves to New Delhi to meet AICC leaders

June 4, 2011
Hyderabad

Praja Rajyam President K Chiranjeevi is invited to New Delhi by the AICC. Chiranjeevi left to New Delhi in a jiffy today. He will meet Congress state affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad. The duo are likely to discuss on the current state political affairs.

Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party who has 18 MLAs in the Andhra Pradesh assembly helped the Congress party secure the seats of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the assembly. Chiranjeevi and his MLAs voted for Nadendla Manohar Reddy as Speaker and Bhatti Vikramarka as the Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh assembly. Winning both Speaker and Deputy Speaker sets, the Congress party definitely crossed the first hurdle, but the second one is more daunting. Telugu Desam Party has earlier served a no-confidence notice against the Government to the State Legislature Secretary today. TDP leaders later met the Governor and urged him to hold special assembly session to move the no-confidence motion. The real strength of YSR Congress Party is not yet known since the MLAs owing allegiance to Jagan Mohan Reddy have voted for the Congress party in the assembly today. Since, there is a possibility of a no-confidence motion against the Government anytime soon, Congress will require the support of Praja Rajyam Party to remain in power.
