August 25, 2011

Film producer and brother-in-law of Congress leader K Chiranjeevi has denied rumors that he is in contention for the post of TTD Chairman. Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad, Allu Aravind categorically denied that he is not aspiring for the post of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam chairman. He said that he is surprised by media reports that there is a race between the Kamma and Kapu community for the chairmanship of TTD. It is reported that Chiranjeevi has lobbied for Allu Aravind for the position.

Meanwhile, the state government has appointed Kanmuri Bapiraju as the chairman of the TTD. Bapiraju is a Congress MP representing the Narasapur constituency. The move to appoint Bapiraju who belongs to the Kshatriya community is a tactical one since the community is favoring towards the Telugu Desam Party.

The names of Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Congress MLAs Mutyam Reddy, R Suryaprakash Rao and P Rajeshwari Devi also made rounds to be contending for the TTD chairman post.
