Praja Chaitanya Yatra in Srikakulam

September 15, 2010

Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi as part of the Praja Chaitanya Yatra addressed a large gathering at the Seven Roads junction in Srikakulam. Chiranjeevi told that the party will strive to ensure social justice and will fight for the rights of the people. He said that the Praja Rajyam Party stressed the needs of the people in the Assembly.

During his speech, Chiranjeevi attacked both the ruling Congress party and Telugu Desam party for ignoring the needs of the people during their tenures in power. He said that people had suffered due to the irregularities during the time the Telugu Desam party is in power. He also demanded an inquiry into the alleged corruption and misuse of power during the tenure of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. "When we see newspapers, the corruption surprises us. We don't know what they were few years ago. They are looting mineral wealth where ever it is,", he said. However these allegations were dismissed by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as "baseless". "Those who do not like him are making baseless allegations against him. There is a conspiracy to defame him, though 12 months have passed since his death,"

He demanded the government to release a white paper on the allotment of lands by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). Chiranjeevi also questioned the government on its policy to reduce the number of students who would gain from the fee reimbursement scheme.
